Chi Omega and Alpha Gamma Rho held their own yesterday and came out victorious from the pit, leading them one step closer to keeping their championship title.
The annual UT Martin tradition of Rope Pull kicked off yesterday afternoon behind the Student Rec Center. The Student Alumni Council hosted Chi Omega to face Alpha Omicron Pi and Pi Kappa Alpha to face Alpha Gamma Rho.
This afternoon at 4, the last round of the first bracket will take place as Alpha Delta Pi will pull against Zeta Tau Alpha and the brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon will pull against the brothers of Kappa Alpha Order.
Alpha Omicron Pi and Pi Kappa Alpha, who fell short in their competition, will face today's losers in a consultation round on Thursday at 4 pm to determine third and fourth place. The winners from the two days will pull for the championship on Friday at 3:30. Rope Pull is a University of Tennessee at Martin tradition. Teams face each other in a game of tug of war in "the pit" outside the Student Rec Center on Mount Pelia Road. Rope Pull became a part of the UT Martin Homecoming in the early 1970s and has been a long-standing favorite ever since.
