Impeachment Trial, Day One
The first day of the impeachment trial included intense debate and late-night decision making. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's rules were approved after Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer tried to make amendments, including one giving democrats the ability to call up specific documents and witnesses. Each side will now have three days each to make their 24 hours of trial arguments. They may or may not bring up the report that said Trump's decision to withhold aid to Ukraine for political reasons was illegal.
Davos Filled With Criticisms
President Trump kicked off his appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland by bragging about America's oil and natural gas production and criticizing climate activists. Every company at Davos is being asked to commit to net zero carbon emissions by 2050. The President encouraged the community to look to technology and innovation to solve the problems.
Coronavirus Reports in America
The Coronavirus hit your Kickstart for the first time yesterday, and now there's more on it. The U.S. has confirmed its first case of the Wuhan virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has activated its emergency response system and has advised authorities to step up airport health screenings. According to CNN, the death toll in China has risen to at least nine.
