Impeachment

President Trump defense team almost entirely ignored the document released by the New York Times. His lawyers focused on attacking Joe and Hunter Biden. CNN said former independent counsel Kenneth Starr, who led the investigation leading to President Bill Clinton's impeachment, warned senators of what he called the "age of impeachment."

Trump's lawyer Alan Dershowitz did say, though, that there was no quid pro quo and that abuse of power is a "political weapon," not an impeachable offense.

Coronavirus

Hong Kong is closing several of its border crossings with mainland China in an attempt to slow the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus, according to CNN. More than 100 people are dead and more than 4,000 are sick because of the disease. Several countries have sent planes to China to evacuate their citizens, but it seems the virus is reaching new ground. Ivory Coast is investigating what could be the first case in Africa.

Immigrant limits on assistance

The Supreme Court voted in favor of policy changes that will make it more difficult for low-income immigrants to come or stay in the U.S. This rule means that immigrants won't be able to get on most forms of Medicaid or get food stamps or housing vouchers. Immigration advocates oppose the rule, and several states have attempted to block it. After Monday's 5-4 Supreme Court vote, the rule can go into effect everywhere except Illinois, which has its own law.
