The UT Martin Men’s basketball team took a tough loss over the weekend. The Skyhawks fell on the road to Jacksonville State 72-to-58 for its second straight loss.

UT Martin shot the ball well from the floor with a 52% mark, but it was ultimately not enough as the Gamecocks controlled the 3 point line and free throw line. 16 turnovers and a season-low 4 free throw attempts led to another loss for the Skyhawks. Quintin Dove and Derek Hawthorne led the team with 20-point performances on the day. Dove put up 26 points and 6 rebounds, while Hawthorne added 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.

The loss officially eliminates the team from OVC Tournament contention. The team returns home for its final two games of the regular season as they host SIUE and Southeast Missouri. Thursday's matchup with SIUE is on Student night, with the first 500 students receiving a free t-shirt.
