The UT Martin women’s basketball team cruised to another big win on Saturday. The Skyhawks defeated Eastern Illinois 88-64 avenging a 74-70 defeat to the Panthers on January 23. The win helped UT Martin retain its share of the top spot in the OVC heading into this week.
Offensively the Skyhawks were clicking once again, shooting 55.2% from the floor, and put 4 players in double figures. Chelsey Perry led the way with a game-high 22 points and 9 rebounds, while Kyannah Grant scored a career-high 18 points with 2 assists. Brittni Moore chipped in 14 points with 6 rebounds and 3 assists, while Maddie Waldrop was also a strong contributor with 14 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds.
The defense was once again on point for UTM as they Skyhawks limited the Panthers to less than 15 points in 3 of the game's 4 quarters.
The team returns to action Friday as they travel to Tennessee Tech for a rematch of UT Martin's thrilling 71-62 win on February 6.
